On Wednesday 8th March over 90 members and guests experienced the boundless enthusiasm of a true plantsman, Billy Carruthers.
As well as a stunning presentation, he arrived with a van load of wonderful plants for sale. It was like a rugby scrum - touch and go whether we had a talk at all! But we did - on spring flowering plants, and above all , Peonies, which, with over 250 varieties and flowering spread over many months of the year are glorious plants for the garden.
There were good questions from the audience - where and how do peonies best grow - and why might they not? How should we feed them? - and many more.
And then - back to the plant sale! An evening of something for everyone.
